Golden pendant of Harpocrates

1st century AD, found in Italy

This hanger is an assimilation of many different gods. Harpocrates was the Egyptian ‘Horus-the-Child’, son of Isis and Osiris. He is wearing a bow and arrow, a reference to both Eros and Apollo, the dog is a reference to Anubis (Egyptian god of Mummification).
